We have been settling in ever so slowly, but thats alright, its nice not to have anything to do at the moment and just put away three things a day. It was so hectic moving everything in here and getting everything set up with electric, phone, internet and all that jazz that its a nice little break. I haven't been frequenting bartending school as much as I maybe should have but thats alright I guess. I will easily be able to finish it next week and hopefully they will place me soon because I am gettting a little strapped for cash.

This ones going to be short because not much really has gone on besides all that goes along with moving into an apartment, which is a lot, but not that interesting to blog about. Give a call, see the new place!

Nate

Well, its been a long time since I last posted and I have gotten some requests to update, so here goes.

My name is Nate. I like to mountain bike and listen to music.

But really, moving out of Gustavus was projected to be a no problem easy one load move. Well after three car loads and a half of one in my car right now I think I am almost finished. Its insane how all that little pack-rat crap piles up and takes up room. Looks like I will be Uhauling up to the cities on saturday the 31st to get rob's stuff and then probably sleeping in the uhaul that night because rob has to be gone one the 31st as do a lot of people living up there and we cant move in until the 1st. So Uhaul motel it is.

Finished up finals here without a hitch. Got all my papers and such back. I think I have all the loose ends tied up here. But without a doubt I will be billed for next years tuition here because of some problem with the paperwork or something and they wont tell me and I'll just get a bill for 13 grand or something. This is going to be a short update because I have to keep loading the car. I am also typing on a roommates computer and apparently they have to "type a paper" or some such thing.

I will be in Rochester from Tuesday the 27th, around 2pm until Saturday the 31st early. Give me a call so I dont have to work constantly for my mom.

Huggles,
Nate

Hi-dee Ho!

Today is the day that it says to the right of this post. And oh what a <insert day> it is. Okay its not really. I am presenting today in Stress Management (yeah, thats an actually class I am taking) about Zen. I dont know if you have ever presented on something that the priciples of the topic say that if you can articulate it that you dont understand it, well it took some time to do. Olay I lied about that. This is a joke of a class. She gave us the last week and a half off to work of this presentation. I did it in an hour yesterday. Also we apparently have two assignments due today. I did those in 30 minutes and had time to update the ol website.

Gustavus is a terrible organization for the sole fact that I get out of school on the 26th of May.

Nothing much is really going on around here. With final projects due and finals coming up everyone seems to be busy. Oh well. I hope that most of you that are reading this are either done with school or soon to be. Summer. Nice.

Well I am going to get going, I have to print some shiate before the presentation. Or not. I am a total nerd, I can admit it, can you?

Today I went to calc only to realize we were putting a single riesmann program on the calculator (takes 2 min) and then leaving...I got up for this. I hate life. Not really. Its nice to get up early when you dont have anything to do. Okay, theres that bio paper I havent started due friday tahts worth one third of my grade. Small details. The point is, the earlier you get up, the more hours in the day there are to waste.

I shaved the mohawk. I know sad days. But it had to go. I gave a presentation on my research at Gustavus last friday to a lot of people. It went well, but I dont think the hawk would have gone over too well. This is the shortest my hair has been since I was a toddler, its fun though. I might have to go take a shower and shave or something before I get going on not wasting the day. Grr, academic responsibilities. They'll all be over soon. Thanks summer.

Happy Birthday Matthew J Carlson. In case I dont get around to posting tomorrow Happy Birthday W. I got up and went to my one class and then I took Thomas to the travel agency because he had to catch the shuttle to get on a plane back home for easter break. Yes we get and easter break because this school apparently has some sort of religious affiliation. Anyway. I started writing my bio paper which I intially dont think is going to take that long to write. Well that was before I aparently lost my sheet with all the stats on it. So back to the lab I go! Well its about midnight and I am about half done with the discussion and decided to make some sort of effort to update the website, seeing as I am getting a surprising about of hits. The pressure is on....up...so I had terrible gas today. My roommates left the room, it was pretty bad.

Love me!

I got a hold of Radiohead's new album "Hail to the Theif" which is going to be released on June 9th. It is really good. I like the tracks "go to sleep" and "myxomatosis" the best I think. Although "a wolf at the door" I am learning to love. I recommend getting it when it comes out. If you dont want to wait, maybe we can talk.

This weekend I plan on heading to Minneapolis and staying with Rob, Kyle, and Ben while attending the Minnesota School of Bartending. Thanks Christianity for giving me the weekend off to learn how to get people bombed and make some cash doing it. Also saving Rob from his family by attending the Harris Family Easter +1 at the fabulous Harris Cabin in Somewhere the hell up north, MN. It should be a good weekend.

Bored Yet!?!?

Word of the Day: sagacious
1 obsolete : keen in sense perception
2 a : of keen and farsighted penetration and judgment : DISCERNING <sagacious judge of character> b : caused by or indicating acute discernment <sagacious purchase of stock>
synonym see SHREWD

Fun site of the day: X-gen Sudios (with games!)

But seriously, look at the picture of bjorn...I will post it again because Bjorn loves the picture so much.

Nate

No one knows what day it is but according to my migrant worker is appears to be "martes" which if he is speaking spanish its Tuesday!

Everyone should go to Geoff's page because there is a great story on it.

I aparently figured out how to attach images into my post so I will obiously "not-exploit" this and "won't" post images such as the one at the end of the post.

Bjorn Sucks. It was about 85 degrees and breezy. It was so nice that I found it rather difficult to waste the day away drudging in classes. I was glad to see that my sentiment were shared by Bjorn and Heather. We picked up and headed to the cities in the Nate-mobile. On the way up I called up some friends that go to the U and told them to meet us at Lake Calhoun. We stayed there for awhile. Ben and I took the leap of faith into the freezing waters while on lookers...okay no one really payed attention. Well there was a couple that sort of glared because our actions enticed there son to hound them for approval to jump into the lake. He was about 6 and I was laughing.
We headed over to The Green Mill, which is a great little pizza/italian place. Good food, good conversation.

Then we drove back.

It was a nice relaxing day. I did other things like go biking and look for snakes/toads in the arb for bio research but nothing of particular note.

My left arm is going to have a nice bronze color from all this driving.

Huggles,
Nojo

Wow. Which I thought was exciting enough. I was then going to go back to gustavus becasue I have a research project due on moday that I havent started at all (still a little problem). I decided to hang out a bit with the guys and then one thing led to another and it was like 8pm and by that time I might as well stay over in the cities.

Gophers Hockey were playing last night and I guess begining last year there were riots after the game. We decided to go check it out when the game ended. Well, good lord I didnt know riots could be so freaking fun. We saw at least 5 intersection fires were students lit couches and dumpsters on fire in the main intersections along 4th Ave and University. We saw two car get tipped over and then set on fire...and the expolde. Repeat: I saw two cars explode. Two cars expoled before my eyes. It was amazing. No one really got too injured I think. It was good ol fashioned aimless violence. Most of the rioters didnt even go to the game. There were flash bombs and mace and pepper spray and tear gas. The worst was the tear gas I think, that stuff really burns, and instantly. It hits and then you just immediately start tearing up and its really hard to run from the riot police when you cant see out of your teared up eyes, fyi.

Granted its was pretty pointless descruction, but its something that people should experience at all different levels just to be there.

Going to go to sleep now because I drove home early this morning.

Norsk

well today was pretty productive in that no so productive sort of way. Like the those days where you manage to fit in three movies and still get to bed before 1am, when really you have accomplished nothing.

I had my thursday classical guitar lesson and as per usual it was the first day I started to practice my lesson for the week. The lesson was dreaded as always and after the lesson I felt better because my teacher is the most postive guy in the world. He looks like Mr. Rogers and used to open for the Everly Brothers, good lord does that date him. Also aced my calc test this morning. Which I should have considering I took the freaking class in high school.
So I convinced Matt and Bjorn that today was a good day to go down to this beach on the minnesota river that we found last year. Its nice to go down in the spring and early summer because the weeds are down on the path there and the bugs are not in full invasion forces yet. We usually have fires, play frisbee, relax, and whatnot. Its a quality time. This time I started digging a small hole the size of my arm to see how far I coudl get until I hit the dirt. Four hours and a sand-caked frisbee later we had a five foot diameter six-foot deep hole in the sand. We only stopped because it got dark. The madness is far from over. I dont see how this could possibly go wrong.

Why is digging a hole so much fun?!

Anyways is getting to be that time.

"you'll be wishing for menapause when you dip into that icy cold river"

Btw, Bjorn and I host a radio program on KGSM, the Gustavus radio station there are DJ profiles and such. Its a web radio station as well so it can be heard all over and we can play that dirty icky music that uses the swears...!!!

Norsk

Well the madness starts.
I should be studying for my calc test at 8 am tomorrow but I figure I really only need to get a C because of transfer so I decided to come back to the dorm and watch a movie. I recently acquired the The Quiet American and heard good things so I think that will be the movie of the evening. Then probably head to bed and get up in the am and glance the notes to scrounge a shitty but acceptable grade. Its going to be a good last couple months Gustavus, a good couple months.
Anyway, now that I actually am liking my page more, got the comments working, and will soon be adding links, you can be sure of more not-so-interesting life updates to those in need of study breaks and uncanny randomness.

Clovers and Blue Moons,
Norsk

Well I dont know if anyone reads this anymore but it seems the counter goes ever slowly up. I am posting more so maybe there is a clue. Bah. So I am officially transferring to the U of M. Well official in the sense that I missed registration for Gustavus, and I havent technically been accepted from the U of M. But I sign a lease on an apartment this weekend. I will be living with the lovely JoMarie and the whimsical Bob Harris.

I wont release the location more than its an amazing apartment in Uptown.

So I was looking for jobs in the cities (for those non-Minnesotans, that means Minneapolis/St. Paul) and I came to the conclusion that if I want a decent paying job I have to work full time and that just doesnt work for schooling. So, I did something that surprised even myself, as of yesterday I am enrolled in the prestidgious Minnesota School of Bartending. Thats right, Nate Johnson, Bartender extraordinaire. Also I cant spell worth anything so no comments on that. Thanks.

I probably will be posting a lot more because I only have to get C's in classes now for credits to transfer and i even though I dont think I will stoop that low I will definately slack a little more. Anyway.

Description of World and Meaning of Life via Kurt Vonnegut (from God Bless You Mr. Rosewater)

"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here.
